A new state for both of us ! 

Detroit is home to FORD Motor Company and General Motors as you may know.

We made it to Detroit today after a fairly leisurely drive from Sandusky, OH along Lake Erie.  We arrived at our hotel in Dearborn, MI before noon, checked in and had some R & R.

The plan for the day was to go to Tiger's baseball stadium in Detroit - now called Comerica Stadium to see the Detroit Tigers play the Tampa Bay Rays.   We did and saw a good game - home team lost 7 - 2.  The first photo shows St. John's Episcopal Church - sharing the edge of their property with the Tigers.

The stadium is in downtown Detroit and parking was in an empty lot near the stadium - and there are many empty lots in Detroit.  We did drive around some after the game to get back to the Interstate and were both pretty taken with what we saw - or didn't see - if you follow Detroit news - very depressing.

Tomorrow we head to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada for a two night stay.

We have had amazing weather on this trip - mostly sunny, in the 70s with very little rain.  We do follow news at home, but have NOT turned on a TV in any hotel room.  We follow along on the internet.
